When I meet with clients, many questions are addressed regarding their “crowd,” what type of “tone” they want to set at the event, and most importantly, what type of music they envision enhancing their evening. We discuss how their space is going to be staged, as well as confer on lighting concepts and decor options. The lighting and decor have an influence on our stage appearance. The music selection has an impact on our instrumentation. All of these elements are discussed and integrated in order to design a successful event.

I share with clients some basic tenets of how to enhance their event using music. One such example is greeting guests with music when they first arrive at the event. Whether it is a string ensemble lining the staircase on the way to the ballroom or a harpist inside the main entrance of a venue, it is a special touch to make your guests feel welcome. This is the beginning of what i call “layering the music” from the start to finish. It helps sustain interest by adding diverse musical elements throughout the evening, lending a sense of anticipation for your guests.
